Cat C HGV / LGV Driver Training

Est 1986 – HSM Driver Training offer lessons and training to help you gain your HGV driving licence so that you are legal to drive any rigid Category C vehicle up to 32 tonnes. Our highly experienced driving instructors will put you at ease and guide you through the process.

All our training is on a one to one basis. With longer 6 hour training days, we aim to keep the cost down, as well as the number of training days in order to minimise work cover.

To obtain a Category C LGV licence, you must:

  • Obtain forms D2 & D4 (Order D2/4 Pack from DVLA www.gov.uk/dvlaforms)
  • Book a medical examination with your GP, making sure that you take the form D4 with you for the doctor to complete.
  • Send the completed forms (D2/D4) together with your current licence to the DVLA to get the provisional category added to your licence.
  • Start studying for the theory and hazard perception tests. You can contact us on 01582 715111 for our revision/practice web site paid for by HSM.
  • When you have your licence back and you feel ready, you should book your theory & hazard perception test. Unlike your car driving test, this is two separate tests, but you can book them for the same day.
  • Once you have passed your theory and hazard perception, we can organise practical training followed with the practical test. Our training courses that end with the practical test give the best chance of a first time pass.
